Astypalea,
out on the western edge of the Dodecanese has much in common
with its near neighbours in the Cyclades. We sailed on the Romilda
which shuttles down from Piraeus to Kastellorizo and back,
reliable for its unreliability. The day we were due to sail
coincided with a very unseasonal storm; when the ferry finally arrived
she was 8 hours late. But then we weren't in any hurry....
Astypalea is a lovely island, popular with well-off Greek
holidaymakers so it does get crowded in mid-August. Which is why
we moved on to Kos; back on the Romilda again! We'd been
to Kos before but wanted to explore the island a bit more this
time.
