Yialos-Symi Harbour

This delightful pre-Neo Classical double storey house on Mavrovouni has plenty of character. Situated at the back of the harbour, about 100 steps up from the Town Hall, it is close to everything the harbour has to offer but well away from the noise and bustle of the day trippers.

The upper courtyard with its exceptionally pretty views of the Castle, the ancient Kataraktis and the slopes of the Vigla, opens into a fresh cream and blue salon with a striking deep red ceiling and traditional built in dresser. A moussandra sleeping loft is cleverly built on top of the bathroom which has a shower and toilet. The windows of both open into the salon, not externally. There is a double size sofa bed in the salon and the moussandra sleeps two. As there is little privacy between the salon and the moussandra, we recommend that the sofa bed be regarded as an alternative to the sleeping loft or for occasional use by children rather than as a separate sleeping area. Still upstairs, the fully equipped kitchen has an old-fashioned atmosphere as the original niches, alcoves and fireplace have been retained. The upstairs area is air-conditioned.

A steep wooden staircase leads down to a bedroom with two single beds. This would be suitable for children, particularly teenagers who wish to come and go independently, as this room opens onto a private enclosed courtyard and has separate access to the street.

This property is ideal for a family with two grown up children or for two couples holidaying together who don't mind sharing a bathroom. The secluded location of the house means that it is not overlooked.
