The Monastery of St. Michael Panormitis is 15 km from the main town by road, or 1¾ hours by boat. The church has some good frescoes and an ikon of St. Michael.  The sanctuary contains offerings from Symiots all over the world.  The main festival (7-9 November) attracts pilgrims from far and wide.
