The seafront entrance from the quayside
opens into a cavernous room, once the warehouse for storing sponges in
the nineteenth century. This has been converted into a vast living area
with an open plan modern kitchen and dining area on one side and a
sleeping alcove with a built-in L-shaped bed suitable for children and
a comfortable sitting area on the other. There is a small guest
bathroom tucked under the imposing central wooden staircase. A
mezzanine area above this room contains a double bed behind a screen
and a long table with chairs. From the mezzanine another flight
of stairs leads to the upstairs rooms.
Upstairs there are two
bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with twin beds, on either side
of a long corridor leading to the back entrance of the house.
Both rooms have en suite bathrooms. There is also a large and
airy salon with a large balcony and panoramic sea views. At the
back of the house there is a small secluded courtyard ideal for soaking
up the sun in the afternoons. A door from the courtyard leads out
into the lane behind, giving the house two separate entrances.
This house is perfect
for a family of 4- 8 people who want plenty of personal space. It
is also suitable for visitors who would like to enjoy Symi's
traditional architecture without having to climb lots of steps.
