Stenos Spiti is a traditional Symi house, dating from around 1900. Refurbished in 2003 to a high standard, using local stone throughout, it combines classic Greek simplicity with a high degree of comfort. Located in a tranquil setting below the windmills of Chorio and enjoying a wonderful view across the harbour of Yialos to Nimos and Turkey beyond, the house is at the end of a pedestrian lane a short walk from the bus stop and the Kali Strata steps to Yialos

Steno Spiti is a two storey house which sleeps four in comfort. Upstairs there is a terrace on the west side with a stunning view to the harbour, just perfect for a shady breakfast. Leading off the terrace is the compact, fully appointed kitchen with refrigerator and cooker and with a hatch to the living space. The living space itself enters from the terrace and consists of a sitting room, with windows to the harbour, and a dining area beneath the traditional moussandra or sleeping platform, with a double bed

An internal staircase leads from the sitting area to the spacious downstairs bedroom – two single beds on a raised sleeping platform – and the delightful shower room, with barrel-vaulted ceiling. There is also a door on the lower level which leads to a large terrace in front of the house, also overlooking the harbour

The house is a perfect base for a peaceful Symi holiday; Yialos is 15 minutes walk away and some 25 minutes will take you to Pedi. The bus-stop is 2 minutes away; if you don't feel like walking you can be down in the harbour or at Pedi Bay in 5 minutes
