Villa To Plio - Symi Greece
This conveniently located village house at the top of the Kali Strata has been recently restored with great attention to detail. As many original features as possible have been retained including some priceless original woodwork in the downstairs section.
The house is on three levels including a moussandra (mezzanine) between the ground floor and the upstairs. The main entrance and main living area is upstairs and accessed from the lane behind the house. Entrance from the lane is through a gate in a high wall into a small paved garden which forms a charming outdoor kitchen and living space, perfect for Symi’s hot summer nights. There is an electric BBQ/griddle for hassle free outdoor cooking. There is also an open air shower for easy clean up after a day on the beach.
The upstairs of the house has a simple layout. As one goes through the entrance the small original kitchen is on the left. A small gas hob and a mini oven have been positioned in the old fire place and it is conveniently located for serving the outside area. On the right, opposite the kitchen, is a small double bedroom with lovely views towards the harbour from the front window and into the garden from the side window. Further along the corridor there is a bathroom on the left with WC and rain shower. The salon at the end of the corridor opens onto a balcony with interesting views of the townscape including the Kali Strata. There is a traditional bedroom behind the salon with a double size platform bed and iconostasis. Both the salon and this bedroom have traditional stencil work details. The rooms have ceiling fans and as the house has many windows and high ceilings it has a generous through draught.
The ground floor and moussandra can be accessed either by a double flight of stairs accessed via a trapdoor in the kitchen or by going along the lane and down the steps to the next lane which runs along the front of the house. The downstairs door opens into a split level room with a sitting area and fireplace in front and steps up onto a large sleeping platform with a double bed. Another short flight of steps leads up to the moussandra bedroom. Please note, this does not have standing headroom . As there is not sufficient clearance for a ceiling fan there is a floor fan and this area is also ventilated by two small windows opening out onto the street which can be seen in the photograph of the façade. A further short flight of stairs leads up to the trapdoor upstairs. The ground floor bathroom is located in the original cistern and is accessed by a central passage with WC on the left, rain shower on the right and a long vanity area opposite. This house is suitable for 2-6 people. It has close vehicle access from both above and below. This property has wifi. For rates and availability please contact email@example.com.
