Yialós Symi Harbour              'The most beautiful harbour in Greece'

The district of Yialos is situated around Symi's natural harbour, an architecturally protected area since the 1970's.

Between 11am and 3pm, in season, the port is busy with day-trippers from Rhodes. But take a few steps back from the harbour and the peaceful life of the village takes over.

'The port is pure magic - with serried tiers of neo-classical mansions set in an amphitheatre bay. The scene is particularly attractive at night, when the banked, orange street and house lights seem to roll into the sea like the glowing embered lip of a lava flow'
(Thomas Cook's 'Greek Island Hopping')
